Abstract

The article discusses the evolution of the functioning of the extremist organization "AUE". The materials emphasize that this association is a product of the work of crime lords. The goal is to unite the entire criminal world of Russia into a single whole. Therefore, criminal elements are actively working to involve all offenders into the AUE, including the lower castes of inmates in penitentiary facilities and those prone to the romance of the life of thieves. The hierarchs of the criminal world pay special attention to young people. In fact, they copy one of the rules of the old ("Nepman") crime lords – to involve young people in criminal activities, to prepare a worthy replacement for offenders. By bringing lower castes of convicts and young people into their fold, professional criminals strengthen their positions both in penitentiary institutions and at large. By increasing the number of supporters of the criminal world, crime lords increase the flow of funds into their proceeds of crime ("bagman cash") . Our observations have disproved the statements about the decline of “AUE” movement. The movement supporters conceal their work. Therefore, expert linguists are to know the manifestations of this sub-culture including argot, tattoos, specific salutations, underlining and capitalizing important words in correspondence. The knowledge of “AUE” communication specificity can facilitate telling members of the extremist organization "Prisoners' Criminal Unity" to case officers, detectives, investigators, court officials and prosecutors.
