Libel: Topical Issues of Law Enforcement Practice in Altai Krai
Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of law enforcement practice under article 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Libel"), as well as the analysis of topical issues arising in the administration of the norms of this article. The material of the study – legal judgments under article 128.1 of the Criminal Code delivered by magistrate judges of Altai Krai in the period from 2015 to 2019. The analysis of legal judgments and studying of the data received in the Information center of General Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on Altai Krai, showed the following: against a significant increase in reported offenses under article 128.1 of the Criminal Code, there is a tendency for the court to mostly render acquittals. This article analyzes the possible causes of this trend, and offers recommendations aimed at ensuring maximum efficiency of law enforcement.
